I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE ROCK STAR; OR MAYBE A COWGIRL

There's no secret to getting started. You simply decide and then take your first step. With each subsequent step, the next one becomes easier... —Tom Venuto, fitness expert I often wonder why we humans always wish for that which we have not? I thought about this today as I was looking through the latest fashion magazine detailing the life and fashion styles of a few prominent female rock stars. You know them, Gwen Stefani,Missy Elliott, etc. I like these two because of their uniqueness and personal style. Both of these women have great talent and vocal skills for their particular music genre. Missy Elliott is one of a few female rappers who presented her talent without compromising her own personal integrity. She did not take off her clothes,or drastically change her body; but rather she used her costumes to add to the songs. Gwen Stefani has a very unusual voice and vocalizations that lend well to the "ska" rap and dance hall type of music her band "No Doubt" is famous for. She said that she sang in her brothers band so that she could get out of the house and from under her parents thumb. She sewed all of her costumes and now she designs clothes. What made those ladies any different from me. I often daydream about playing the electric guitar, singing in a band, singing in a choir, leading songs. I did do that when I was a kid, mostly singing in the church choir. I took piano lessons and quit because the teacher was not good, and I taught myself to play the clarinet. What is talent any way? In the Pearl of Great Price, the book of Abraham Chapter 3:24, here is the beginning of what is is to start: 24 And there stood one among them that was like unto God, and he said unto those who were with him: We will go down, for there is space there, and we will take of these materials, and we will make an earth whereon these may dwell; This very verse is showing how the Saviour is about to take on a monumental task that will require his entire ability to do so.He has committed himself to the creation of a new world and its inhabitants.By His words, "there is space there, we will take of these (raw) materials, and we will.... (Yes we can) So in answering my own question of why we humans wish for that which we have not is because in our souls, we know that the "material" is there whereby we can work with to accomplish that which we have set our eyes on. 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 7Every man according as he purpose in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

The scriptures say that every man, as he considers a thing in his own heart, let him give what is necessary to accomplish this thing. The Savior gave his life for us, even before he hung on the cross. The preparation, the purpose in his own heart, he gave freely out of love for us. And in return God our Heavenly Father, by the word of his power made all grace abound toward the Savior so that he could accomplish his work. He was full of Grace. He had all sufficiency in all things that he was able to perform.

So, I could be a Rock Star, but better I could endeavour to learn to play the guitar, or take voice lessons so that I could sing better in the church choir. Heavenly Father has made all grace abound toward us. What is Grace?. Grace is the active embodiment of our Heavenly Fathers love for us. It is a blank check of sorts, a debit card that if we purpose in our hearts to do good and give, we can tap into it and do the thing we need to do. And in all things we give God the glory: Psalm 84:11 11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly
